What are non-geographical numbers (NGN's)?
NGN's represent phone numbers that do not relate to a particular town or city. Callers are unaware of the location they are calling to. All NGN's are routed to your assigned telephone number via our switch and no visit to your premises is necessary. You also keep your current geographic number, which can still be accessed in the normal way. |
Xfone NGN numbers
We offer free Phone 0800 numbers, Number Translation Service (NTS) 0870, 0845, 0871, 0844 and Premium Rate Service (PRS) 091.

Free Phone 0800
With an 0800 the caller pays nothing for the call, instead it is paid for by the company/person who ordered the service. Advertisers looking to encourage prospective clients to call their company often use 0800 numbers.

Number Translation Service

Local rate 0845
An 0845 number enables a caller to telephone anywhere in the UK at a local rate. The company called pays a small amount towards the cost of the call.
- National rate 0870
An 0870 number costs the caller the national rate to call anywhere in the UK. Depending on the time of day, there may be a small payback to the company called.

An 0871 number costs the caller a flat rate of 10p per minute inc vat to call anywhere in the UK. This rate is the same 24 hours a day and a payback is made to the company called.

An 0844 number costs the caller a flat rate of 5p per minute inc vat to call anywhere in the UK. This rate is the same 24 hours a day and a payback is made to the company called.

Premium Rate Service 091
These numbers vary in cost to the caller from 10p per minute to £1.00 per minute. A payback is made to the company called, in proportion to the cost of the call. These numbers are used for help lines, quiz shows and other areas where revenue needs to be generated.

Xfone does not make a charge for supplying normal NGN's, although memorable numbers are available at various prices. Xfone has a range of over 300,000 NGN's so you should be able to find one to suit your purpose. There is no monthly charge for keeping the number and you can choose your own number on line and tell us which geographic number to route it to. Both the cost and payback compare favourably with what is currently available in the market.
